Who doesn’t love a retro remake?

Nike are set to release a remake of Barcelona’s 1998 kit, which could be worn during the Clasico against Real Madrid on Saturday, according to reports.

The great folk at footheadlines.com have released some photos of the shirt, which returns to the design of having both the club crest and the Nike logo in the centre, and no sponsor.

This kit was the first that Nike created for Barcelona, back in 1998 when they took over from Kappa as kit manufacturers for the Spanish club.

The Barça side who wore it featured famous names including Bolo Zenden, Patrick Kluivert, Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique, who went on to coach Barça and then the Spanish national team.

Earlier in the season, Nike’s mash-up kit to mark their 20th anniversary as Barça’s kit makers was released, combining various stripe patterns to create a bizarre yet beautiful jersey.

This new special edition shirt is a lot more subtle on the eye and will no doubt go down a treat for football fans who love combining the old school with the new.

Reports have suggested it could be worn during el clásico this weekend at the Bernabeu, but don’t hold your breath on that one.
