Still 0-0 but Arsenal have had the better of it thus far.
Just as Manchester United fans feared.
Not for the first time in recent weeks, Liverpool failed to take three points from a home game they would have been expected to win.
After drawing with Bournemouth and losing to Crystal Palace, Jürgen Klopp’s men failed to score past Southampton at Anfield, the game ending 0-0.
In doing so, it meant that Manchester United, who faced Arsenal at The Emirates later in the afternoon, had their hopes of a top four finish back in their own hands.
Not that any United supporters were too optimistic about this. Having been presented with a number of opportunities to make ground on the clubs in the Champions League places over the course of the season, United have repeatedly blown the opportunity.
So, with another chance to seize the initiative from their great rivals, you can probably guess what United’s supporters had to say about it…
You couldn't write it, yet another door opening for United. Watch us blow it again now at Arsenal…;(

United had already named their team for the game at The Emirates before the game at Anfield had finished. As expected, several key players had been rested ahead of the Europa League semi-final with Celta Vigo on Thursday night.
If United are successful in that tournament, they will be playing Champions League football next season regardless of where they finish in the league.
