He appears to have yet to convince Mourinho he's worthy of a regular first team place as yesterday's Watford game was just his 10th Premier League start of the season.
However, if the Frenchman's goal is tempting Jose to give him a run of games, he may want to think twice.
As yesterday's goal was Martial's 24th and should he reach 25 for the club, Manchester United will have to honour the terms of his sale and pay his former club Monaco around £8.5m, according to The Mirror.
Details of Martial's transfer deal were leaked earlier this year revealing his fee could rise to €80m (£68m) if all the relevant clauses are activated.
Among them is a clause stating that United will have to pay €10m (£8.5m) if Martial wins 25 caps for France, or another €10m if he's nominated for the Ballon D'or.
So, United are at risk of paying another €10m then.
If he develops into a world class player, the club's fans won't mind.
