Another bit of punditry gold from the man that keeps on giving, Phil Neville

He's making a habit of this

This is all becoming a little too frequent.

Phil Neville’s much maligned career as a pundit has taken another turn for the worse as he came with up another nugget of wisdom during Sky Sports’ coverage of the EFL Cup semi-final second leg between Hull City and Manchester United at the KCOM Stadium.

If it’s giving bad advice or defending the indefensible, Neville consistently gets called out on social media for his various punditry blunders.

Well folks, he’s gone and done it again and the fine people who make up the Twitter universe were not hesitant to point this out.

Neville was speaking ahead of the game when he made the point that the EFL Cup should be United’s No.1 priority this season because of the belief that winning a trophy would instill.

Ok, fair enough, it kind of makes sense but unfortunately for Neville he should have kept his mouth firmly shut before spouting this gem:

“For someone like Paul Pogba to experience that, you can’t underestimate it.”

Unfortunately for Neville, it may have escaped him for one brief moment that Paul Pogba has a very recent history of winning trophies, having won four Serie A titles with Italian kingpins, Juventus.

With United now into the final, we may yet see how winning the glamorous EFL cup could change Pogba’s career at Old Trafford.
