Alex Ferguson and David Beckham announce special Old Trafford return

Don't get too excited

It’s not exactly what you think.

David Beckham is not exactly the best man in the world to keep a secret we suspect, and he left a whopper out of the bag this morning on BBC Radio 1’s breakfast show.

The former England captain told host Nick Grimshaw that he and Alex Ferguson, will be making a playing and managerial return to Old Trafford next month.

But it’s not to wear the red of Manchester United, but rather both will be part of a charity game at the stadium with Fergie set to take charge of a special Great Britain and Ireland XI against a World XI.

The game is due to take place on November 14th and will see Zinedine Zidane captain the World XI which will be managed by Carlo Ancelotti.

The game is a Unicef charity project and is expected to be a sellout as it will be the first time Ferguson will be back in the Manchester United dugout since his retirement almost two years ago.

Beckham confirmed the news on his Instagram

Now we are just waiting to see what Irish players could be selected by Ferguson for his team.

Although we suspect Roy Keane might be waiting a while for a phone call.
