A surprising number of people fell for Arsenal Fan TV’s April Fool’s Day prank

Everybody calm down

There are a lot of gullible people in the world.

Surely everybody knows, on this day of all days, that cynicism about headlines needs to be at an all-time high because almost everybody, in their bloodthirsty pursuit of bantz, is going to attempt to pull off an original April Fool’s Day prank.

The folks over at Arsenal Fan TV are no exception to that and they tried to trick their hardcore following into believing that a stalwart of the channel, Robbie, had decided to leave for greener pastures.

On the morning of Saturday, 1 April, Arsenal Fan TV contributor DT featured in a video where he explained that he would be taking over as the regular presenter from Robbie, who had reportedly gone to Dortmund’s official supporter channel.

“Robbie has left Arsenal Fan TV. This isn’t a joke,” DT said. “He’s gone. His missus has got the new kitchen. He’s got the new Roller and he’s gone to Dortmund TV.”

Taking nothing away from DT’s acting chops but it was pretty easy to see that it was no more than an April Fool’s Day prank… For most supporters, anyway.

In spite of the fact that Robbie featured in a subsequent video on the channel, which previewed the Gunners’ Sunday clash with Manchester City, a certain gullible group of fans took the bait.

We must point out that the majority of comments left under the above video were wise to what was going on, there were definitely some believers in the bunch.

Don’t believe everything you see, kids. Especially on April 1.
