This Muller corner is not for turning

The summer spending spree started so well for Manchester United as they swooped in to capture Memphis Depay before the season even ended, but things have ground to a halt on the transfer front since.

The club have been linked with dozens, and we mean dozens, of players since without any tangible sign of them actually getting anybody else to keep poor Memphis company.

And Louis Van Gaal’s overtures to one of the best strikers in the world now also appear to have come to zilch.

Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller has been linked with a move to the Premier League for the last two seasons, but in an interview with German magazine Bild the striker has ruled out a move to England, or anywhere in fact.

He hasn’t named the Old Trafford club explicitly but we’re good at maths so we’ve added up the numbers for you to come to the result that he isn’t going to be teaming up with Wayne Rooney next season,

‘When a request comes, automatically you deal with it. A request from a big club is an honor and a reward that [the player] is performing well. But I feel happy at Bayern, and my contract runs until 2019. There is nothing more to say on these speculations.’

Bad news for Lvg but probably good news for RvP.
