Robin van Persie and nine other former Manchester United players will take part in ex-Manchester City captain’s Vincent Kompany’s testimonial match.
Edwin van der Sar, Gary and Phil Neville, John O’Shea, Wes Brown, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Michael Carrick, Ryan Giggs and van Persie have all agreed to play in the team that Belgian manager Roberto Martinez will coach while Cesc Fabregas, Emile Heskey and Rafael van der Vaart have also been confirmed.
Meanwhile Kompany’s team is headlined by current Manchester City stars Sergio Aguero and David Silva and the players will be joined in the side by Joe Hart, Shay Given, Gael Clichy, Aleks Kolarov, Joleon Lescott, Micah Richards, Pablo Zabaleta, Dedryk Boyata, Wayne Bridge, Richard Dunne, Nigel de Jong, Samir Nasri, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Stephen Ireland and Craig Bellamy.
The game will take place at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday 11 September at 7.45pm with current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola set to take charge of Kompany’s team.
