Ian Madigan was reduced to tears following Ireland’s 24-9 victory over France at the Millennium Stadium.
Madigan had replaced Jonny Sexton in the first-half and went on to play a key role as Ireland topped their pool and avoided New Zealand in the quarter-finals of the Rugby World Cup.
The full-time whistle saw the Leinster fly-half reduced to tears, and Madigan revealed today, on his Instagram page, that it was the sight of his parents in the crowd that made his emotions get the better of him.
“Incredible support from home and in the Millennium yesterday,” Madigan wrote. “Seeing mum and dad got the better of me at the end.”
