The former Rangers player won’t challenge James McClean again.
James McClean got sent off in stoppage-time as Wigan Athletic beat Fleetwood Town 2-0 at the DW Stadium, on Tuesday night.
The Derryman had scored the second goal of the night, following fellow Republic of Ireland teammate Will Keane’s opener.
Joe Garner will not be as quick to challenge the Ireland international again as the winger grabbed the Fleetwood player and threw him to the ground. He certainly did not start the coming together, but he did quickly put an end to it.

The fourth official announced there would be six minutes of stoppage time. Following a Fleetwood long-ball – McClean was involved in an ariel dual. This resulted in the former Rangers man ending up on the turf.
Garner stood up and squared up to McClean, as a result, the pair became involved in a tussle. Both players ended up wrestling each other on the ground. Players from both sides ran over the break up the fight.
Following all the action, referee Martin Coy decided the show McClean and Garner red cards. Both teams played out the rest of the match with 10 men.
The three points for Wigan see them rise to second in League 1. Seven points behind the first place Rotherham with two games in hand.
The Wigan boss gives his take on the sending-offs.
Wigan manager Leam Richardson referenced the sending offs after the game.
The Latics boss highlighted working with both players in the past and how they both have that burning desire to win.
“I think it’s two senior players – and I’ve worked with them both – who each have that will to win and that fight in them,” said the Wigan boss.
“It looked like a bit of a clash, a bit of handbags, but if the referee’s seen something, they should know better.”
“Without seeing it, though, I can’t really comment too much.”
