Sport Minister tweets messages of good luck to Katie Taylor hours after she has been eliminated

Awkward...

Robert Redmond

Awkward.

Shane Ross wished Katie Taylor luck in her Olympic bout against Finland’s Mira Potkonen in the quarter-final of the women’s 60kg division.

The only problem for the politician was that his tweets didn’t send until over five hours after her defeat.

The Minister for Sport sent the following tweet at 8:40pm Irish time:

ross tweet 2

Which was instantly followed by this tweet:

ross tweet

It might be possible that the coverage on Ross’ phone was poor when he attempted to send the tweets earlier today, and he has just arrived back at a facility with a strong Wi-Fi connection.

It’s possible that he attempted to schedule the tweets, and made a harmless, if slightly embarrassing and poorly timed, error.

It’s also possible that he is speaking to us from the past, and has cracked time travel. If that’s the case, this Twitter user has a (cruel) request for Ross.

We’re currently awaiting the Minster’s tweet commiserating Katie, but we’ll keep you posted on his adventures through the past.
