European Tour announce ‘Niall O’Horan’ will play Pro-Am with Rory McIlroy and Paul Scholes

A barrel of laughs... and Phil... and Scholesey

Hold on to your Titleist hats.

Rory McIlroy. Niall Horan. Phil Neville. Paul Scholes.

Just drink that in for a moment…

The Manchester United demi-God and the man they call ‘Pip’ will be showing their competitive hunger has not sated at the BMW PGA Championship, at Wentworth, in two weeks’ time.

Neville is an old hand/hack at the golfing game while Scholes is no mug either. This will be the ginger assassin’s first ever Pro-Am.

As if that is not enough to arouse your interest, McIlroy and Horan will be reunited. The duo that charmed, amused, bemused, impressed and non-plussed patrons at Augusta National will compete together in the Pro-Am.

Niall O'Horan sure loves the golf.Niall O’Horan sure loves the golf.

Through the distilled magic of a press release, Horan declared, ‘I can’t wait to play with Rory, Phil and Paul.  It’s going to be a great event. I know how prestigious the championship is as The European Tour’s flagship event, so the opportunity to play in the Pro-Am with my mate Rory and two legends of football is going to be amazing.’

As if you did not fully sense his excitement, he added, ‘What a team.’

For his part, McIlroy commented, ‘Niall and I had a good fun together in the Par 3 contest at the Masters and I’m looking forward to seeing him again at Wentworth, without the boiler suit. It should be a great fourball with Phil and Paul playing too.’
