WATCH: Paige VanZant needed the towel for early weigh-ins but was in flying form later that evening

Dance-off > Mean mugging

It’s not often that you see fighters who have trained for months with the aim of bludgeoning the other into defeat enjoy a friendly dance-off with one another.

But, then again, neither Paige VanZant nor Michelle Waterson would strike you as the most hostile fighters in the world.

In what will go down as one of the most unique weigh-in staredowns in history, the UFC Sacramento headliners treated the fans in attendance to their best moves on stage during the ceremonial weigh-ins on Friday night.

VanZant, a runner-up on season 22 of Dancing with the Stars, got the dance-off going by breaking out the running man before Waterson matched her effort with a spot of twerking.

But VanZant had more up her sleeve and the dancing continued before the pair embraced in what has to be the friendliest staredown in UFC history.

You’d never have guessed that VanZant cut it tight in making the 116lbs weight limit earlier that day as she was forced to strip off and use the towel in order to make weight.

The seventh-ranked UFC strawweight came in bang on the limit and ensured that her bout with the returning Waterson would go ahead as planned.

‘The Karate Hottie’ hasn’t fought in eighteen months, with a series of injuries ruling her out of her long-awaited comeback but she is good to go after coming in at 115lbs for the main event of UFC on FOX 22, a card that will also see welterweight prospects Mickey Gall and Sage Northcutt do battle and MMA legend Urijah Faber hang up his gloves after he clashes with Brad Pickett.

Here is the full list of weigh-in results.
