They all laughed at Tyrrell in Miami when he was catching the ball without his glove, but are they laughing now?
It was MLB's Opening Day across America yesterday, and this play (or non play) from the Miami Marlins' Marcell Ozuna was one of the highlights of the night.
With the scores tied at 1-1 at the top of the sixth, Ozuna thought he had taken a miracle catch as he dived forward to snag this line drive from Eric Young Jr.
Standing triumphantly with his glove above his head, Ozuna looked delighted with his work, failing to realise that he hadn't actually caught the ball, which was on the ground six feet behind him.
By the time he cottoned on to his mistake, Young had already rounded first and was on his way to second base.
We imagine poor Ozuna wanted the ground to open up below him.
He wouldn't have made that mistake if he'd listened to Jackie Tyrrell complaining about the glove.
