Have we seen Gordon D’Arcy in the blue of Leinster for the final time?

The centre is likely to miss the trip to Edinburgh

Was Friday night the final goodbye for Leinster fans?

The province have revealed that Gordon D’Arcy is likely to miss this weekend’s trip to face Edinburgh in their final Pro12 game of the season, meaning he could have made his last outing in a Leinster shirt already.

D’Arcy and his wife are expecting their first child this weekend, and the province have said he “is unlikely to be available for the game”.

The centre is due to retire from the game at the end of October, but is hoping to be a part of Joe Schmidt’s World Cup squad.

And should the 35-year-old be selected for the tournament, it means he’ll miss out on the start of the season for the province.

However yesterday, Leinster’s attack coach Richie Murphy said he expects D’Arcy to still be available for selection until October, should he miss out on the World Cup.

“I think that is the situation if that arises,” Murphy said.

“He is contracted until the end of October so if he is not with Ireland, he should be here.”
