First ever all-female team complete six-hour Mondello Park Fiesta Endurance Race
History was made at Mondello Park on Sunday afternoon when, for the first time ever, an all-female team took part in the annual six-hour Fiesta Endurance Race.
From 12pm to 6pm, the all-female crew of WIM Racing proved their staying power and finished 22nd out of the 32 cars which started the race.
Ruth Nugent, Nicola Watkins, Aimee Woods, and Emma Dempsey made up a very experienced team against whom the odds were somewhat stacked given the talent on display in the race.
Team Michael Barrable Motors came away with the win after six hours of racing, with a best speed of 92.338km/h.
In their 222 laps completed, the WIM Racing crew managed a top speed of 90.542km/h and while they may be disappointed with the result; Nugent, Watkins, Woods and Dempsey will surely be proud of their historic achievement.
Four cars failed to finish, which tells you everything about the toll the endurance race can take on drivers and vehicles alike.
Sunday's meeting was the fifth instalment of the annual race at Mondello and brought a close to Ireland's car-racing season in some style.
