Shades recognise shades.

Conor McGregor has managed to propel himself into superstar status which is an incredible feat considering MMA was very much a niche sport in Ireland up until relatively recently. Regardless of whether you love him, loathe him or are completely indifferent towards him, odds are you’ve probably heard of the Notorious.

Since he’s continued to succeed at the highest level, the fandom for McGregor has continued to grow and grow. McGregor’s celebrity status is perfectly illustrated with a great anecdote about being pulled over by the Gardai he recounted in Sports Illustrated’s Unfiltered documentary.

Full police combat outfit pulled me in and I was like ‘fuck it, I’m going to get a ticket or I’m going to get brought to court or some fine.'”

“He comes up to window and looks at men, ‘Have you got a driver’s licence?’ and I said, ‘Yeah.’ and showed him the driver’s licence. He looked at the driver’s licence, looked at me and said, ‘Do you mind if I jump in the passenger’s seat for a selfie?'”

“He jumps in the passenger’s seat, grabs a selfie… thanks very much, see you later. Off I went at 200 mph!”
