The 150/1 accumulator that can end your Cheltenham on the highest of highs

SportsJOE

Brought to you by Sky Bet.

The last hurrah.

By 5.30 this evening, Cheltenham will have come and gone for another year. Three days of thrills, spills, flopped favourites and gambles landed, here’s hoping for more of the same on the final day.

Ireland are beating the living daylights out of England in the Pretsbury Cup, 15-6 up after three days of racing and the victory already sealed.

Willie Mullins is leading the charge, despite the loss of his right hand man. Gordon Elliott is in hot pursuit and every thoroughbred Davy Russell lays his hands on turns to winner.

Punters are doing alright. Some gambles are landing, some favourites are delivering but the losses of Apple’s Jade and Un De Sceaux respectively has busted many an accumulator.

We go again. Friday’s racing is insanely competitive. From the treachery of the county hurdle to the stick a pin job of the Grand Annual, it’s not going to be easy out there.

The Gold Cup looks wide open and there’s value to be had. It’s all about picking the right ones.

Here’s to hoping we can steer you in the right direction.

1.30 JCB Triumph Hurdle

Apple’s Shakira is being backed off the boards and at this rate will go off an odds on shot. Nicky Henderson’s four-year-old has been flawless to date and should have enough to land the opener.

Stormy Ireland offers good each/way value. His win last time out in Fairyhouse was a sight to behold, albeit against inferior opposition.

2.10 County Handicap Hurdle

A minefield of a race. Though Willie Mullins has won four of the last seven renewals so maybe it’s worth siding with the in form Clonsutton handler again.

He has Bleu Et Rouge, Whiskey Sour and Meri Devie and none of them should be overlooked.

Take your pick.

2.50 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle

Henderson’s Santini will go off favourite and justifiably so. Joseph O’Brien’s Tower Bridge is an each/way shout.

3.30 Cheltenham Gold Cup

Our Duke has the form of the race. He beat Presenting Percy last time out in the Red Mills Chase and that stands up well. He has what it takes to make it two in a row for Harrington and Power. Joseph O’Brien has another each/way shout in miracle horse, Edwulf.

4.10 Foxhunters’ Chase

Stick a pin job.

4.50 Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’

Sire Du Berlais is fancied for the Elliot team, and he has the best conditional jockey in the game in Donie McInerney on board. Mullins’ Deal Destruval will provide stern opposition though and we side with him.

5.30 The Johnny Henderson Grand Annual

Despite the ground going against Harrington’s pair Don’t Touch It and Rock The World, we still feel they’ll be able to manage it.

Take your choice.

Wednesday’s treble came in, so here’s hoping we can repeat those heroics.

Treble

  • Apple’s Shakira 11/8, JCB Triumph Hurdle.
  • Deal D’estruval 8/1, Matin Pipe Conditional Jockey’s Hurdle.
  • Our Duke 5/1, The Gold Cup.

This adds up to 128/1. It’s worth a few quid each way, and you can do that here with Sky Bet.
