Darren Clarke shows us Ryder Cup captains are mortal too
Golf is a cruel game, even for top professionals
It's part of golf's appeal that, no matter how amazing the likes of Rory McIlroy or Tiger Woods can seem, every now and then (and for Woods a bit more than every now and then in recent times) they can hit a shot every bit as ugly as us weekend hackers.
Poor old Darren Clarke had himself a bit of a mare on the opening hole of his final round at the Africa Open in South Africa today, carding a 10 (TEN) on the par-five.
In contrast to the rest of us though, the European Ryder Cup captain displayed the mental fortitude utterly lacking in ourseleves by playing the rest of his round in one under par.
