The Littlewoods Ireland National Camogie Leagues got off to a flier last weekend with a full round of opening fixtures taking place.
Tipperary 2-12 Wexford 3-10
The tie of the round took place in the Ragg in Tipperary where the Premier County played host to Martin Carey’s Wexford.
The home side started the brighter, with the young Orla O’Dwyer impressing from centre forward. Sarah Fryday marked her return from a cruciate ligament injury with a productive showing from corner forward, to the tune of two fine goals from play.
Indeed, Tipperary looked home and hosed when they held a two point advantage over their opponents deep in injury time.
But the Yellow Bellies kept plugging away. Their efforts were rewarded when live-wire half forward Linda Bolger turned the tie on its head with a goal at the death to secure a one point victory.

It was Bolger’s first goal of the day that really caught the eye, however, with her well taken finish rounding off a supreme Model County move.
Corner forward Joanne Dillon showed blinding pace to make space for herself down the wing. She delivered an inch-perfect cross field pass into the path of full forward Una Leacy.
Leacy controlled the ball dead. Rounded her marker and played Bolger through. With a lot of work still to do, the St. Martin’s forward sold a devastating dummy before slotting home coolly.

Meanwhile, in the other games – Defending All-Ireland champions Cork got their campaign off to a solid start, defeating a depleted Galway by 0-13 to 1-3.
Three-in-a-row seeking Kilkenny didn’t show any mercy to Clare in Clonlara. The Cats won out by ten points on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-3.

Waterford gave newly promoted Meath a baptism of fire in Carriganore. The Déise got off to a flying start and never looked back, closing out with a nine point, 1-12 to 0-6 victory.
Limerick recovered from an 8 point half-time deficit to salvage a draw against Dublin in Rathkeale on a scoreline of 2-12 apiece.
