Gary Walsh is “gutted” to have been cut from the Laois GAA panel.
The footballer confirmed on Twitter on Thursday night that he has been dropped, and won’t be in contention for Laois’ upcoming All-Ireland qualifier against Armagh.
Walsh was substituted at half-time during his side’s defeat to Dublin last weekend, and was frustrated by manager Mick Lillis’ call. The forward admitted that his reaction was wrong – conceding that he shouldn’t have cursed – but as it was in the heat of the moment, he stressed his commitment to the team wasn’t in doubt.
However, it seems as though the incident has cost Walsh his place, as the forward was told via phone call on Wednesday evening that he was no longer part of the panel.
