In fairness, they had no other option, that was all that was on the market. We all remember these socks, because they were so bloody hard to take off. They were by no-means perfect, and on a hot day your feet would still be roasting and sweating like no tomorrow, but undoubtedly, they were an improvement Nowadays, you'll struggle to find a GAA player who wears the full-length GAA sock.
