They were by no-means perfect, and on a hot day your feet would still be roasting and sweating like no tomorrow, but undoubtedly, they were an improvement

In fairness, they look an awful lot better, too. In the past, many players had to ensure the discomfort of wearing white socks over their normal socks to make them look good. Not anymore.
