The GAA sock game has been changed by these absolute bad boys

Tipperary club hurlers have caught on

Game changer.

Some players care about comfort, some players care about looks, but nowadays all GAA players do care about the socks they wear.

In the early 2000’s, it was a different set-up, players didn’t really give a damn about the type of socks they wore, as long as they were the same colour as the kit they were wearing.

In fairness, they had no other option, that was all that was on the market.

We all remember these socks, because they were so bloody hard to take off. They were tight around your ankles, blister inducing and really, really uncomfortable.

Eventually, around the mid-2000’s, sock-providers saw the light and began producing socks that had more elasticity and were just more comfortable on an all-round basis.

They were by no-means perfect, and on a hot day your feet would still be roasting and sweating like no tomorrow, but undoubtedly, they were an improvement

Nowadays, you’ll struggle to find a GAA player who wears the full-length GAA sock. Many have decided to wear ‘Miniz’ which are designed to be more comfortable and to prevent blisters.

In fairness, they look an awful lot better, too. In the past, many players had to ensure the discomfort of wearing white socks over their normal socks to make them look good. Not anymore.

Most players wear them.

The hooped and plain socks are the flagships of the sock game currently, but the natural order might be on the verge of taking a hit when players find out about the newly designed socks in Tipperary.

Buckley Sports in Tipperary have brought a new type of sock to the fore, a striped mini sock, and we have to say, we are impressed.

Each one looks good, but the mainly yellow pair with the blue stripes look like the ideal training sock.

It’s no wonder the club hurlers of Tipperary have been wearing them.

We are big, big fans.
