The draws for the next round of club championship

Niall McIntyre

And we go again.

The weakest county champions have been weeded out, the strongest, they’re still standing and they’re hunting for further glory.

The weekend just past threw up some more thrills but there were no really unexpected spills. In Connacht, favourites Corofin and Ballintubber are still on course for a final.

In Ulster, Gaoth Dobhair and Eoghan Rua are announcing themselves as coming forces but Cross are still lurking. Leinster is still wide open though Kilmacud Crokes will be tipped.

The Nire are showing the Waterford county board what they can do in Munster when given the chance but it’s hard to see past Dr Crokes down there.

The best thing is, we’ll do it all again next weekend.

Sunday 11 November

Connacht club SFC semi-finals

The Leitrim and Roscommon champs will be up against it next round.

Aughawillan (Leitrim) v Ballintubber (Mayo), Pairc Sean MacDiarmada
Corofin (Galway) v Clann na nGael (Roscommon), Dr Hyde Park

Leinster club SFC quarter-finals

Dunboyne have pulled the short straw in Leinster, but they are probably the best placed team in the province to challenge the Dublin kingpins.

The rest of the teams left seem very evenly matched.

Dunboyne (Meath) v Kilmacud Crokes (Dublin), Pairc Tailteann, 1.30pm

Moorefield (Kildare) v Portlaoise (Laois), Newbridge, 1.30pm
Rhode (Offaly) v Mullinalaghta (Longford), Tullamore, 1.30pm
Newtown Blues (Louth) v Eire Og (Carlow), Gaelic Grounds, 1.30pm

Munster club SFC semi-finals

We’re set for two battles.

The Nire (Waterford) v Miltown-Malbay (Clare), Waterford venue

Dr Crokes (Kerry) v St Finbarr’s (Cork)

Ulster club SHC final

Ballycran (Down) v Cushendall (Antrim),  Athletic Grounds, 4pm
