St Brendan’s College, Killarney have won the Munster Post Primary Schools U17 ‘A’ Championship (the Frewen Cup) for the second year in a row.
They beat out Clonakilty Community College by 3-7 to 0-15 in Banteer, with David Clifford as manager.
The Kerry inter-county star is a PE teacher at his former school, where he won the Hogan Cup as a pupil.
Speaking with Clubber after the game, he said: "We went in five points up at half time but we were very lucky to be ahead.
"They had actually dropped a lot of ball short. We would say we had the wind in the second half but it didn't really materialise, it's a bit swirly here. It's a bit swirly down in the quarry.
"But they came out after half time, Clonakilty in fairness to them, and they tore into the game. They probably just got on top on both sides of the kickout.
"Obviously they had a brilliant full forward and a centre-forward. So look, it was looking like we weren't going to get out of here so in fairness a brilliant goal by Darragh Keane dragged us out so we're delighted to get out of here."
