Wayne Rooney’s United teammates must be jealous as Premier League’s top 10 earners revealed

Streets ahead

Wayne Rooney got a great reception in the England dressing room, midweek, but it might be a touch colder in Manchester.

The Premier League’s top 10 earners have been revealed and there are Chelsea and Manchester City names all over it.

City have five players earning over £170k a week while three of Chelsea’s players earn between £160k and £220k per week.

Mesut Ozil, on £190k a week, is Arsenal’s sole representative. Surprisingly, Alexis Sanchez does not feature in the top 10.

Top of the pile, though, is Manchester United’s Rooney.

According to The Daily Mail list, the striker, who netted his 50th England goal on Tuesday, is on a staggering £260k (€355k) a week. Totted up, that is £13m (€17.8m) a year.

However, it was widely reported, in February 2014, that Rooney had penned a new, weekly pay deal worth £300k (€410k).

Not on the list is Bastian Schweinsteiger. This would appear to be an anomaly as Sky Sports and several other media outlets report that the German is on £275k a week at United.

The nearest to Rooney, per the list, would appear to be Juan Mata (£140k) but Schweinsteiger’s salary trumps that.

Here is The Daily Mail’s Top 10:

1. Wayne Rooney (Man Utd) £260,000-a-week. Five-year deal signed in 2014

=2. Sergio Aguero (Man City) £240k. Five-year deal signed in 2014
