He has pace to burn

Manchester United now have another French international on their books. Wonder if they had to pay a bonus add-on for that?

Anthony Martial made his France debut last night as Didier Deschamps’ men defeated Portugal 1-0.

Martial, who cost United an initial outlay for £36m, came on for Karim Benzema in the closing stages.

He featured prominently on the left wing during his cameo but also led the line and played through the middle.

Martial showed his willingness to chase back but not all of his passes were finding their intended Frenchmen.

It was left to Lyon playmaker Mathieu Valbuena, who also started on the bench, to settle the tie.

In the 85th minute, he curled in a superb tie to down the Portuguese and win the friendly encounter.
