Transfers: Manchester United’s £40m move for Harry Kane back on the table

Harry Kane. £40m. The price seems to increase with every transfer link.

The Tottenham striker went from Europa League option to leading Premier League light, last season, and not even his recent appointment as vice captain can quell transfer speculation.

Kane was left out of the Spurs squad that defeated AC Milan, last night.

He did appear on the team bench, however, despite not being listed with the subs.

Mauricio Pochettino could have been resting his leading goalscorer, but the match commentator had another theory. A ‘huge bid’ from Manchester United theory.

Daily Express reported that United could lay out £40m to sign the striker.

Kane’s 20 league goals last season earned his club an impressive 22 points.

The fact that Spurs are interested in Javier Hernandez may see a player plus cash deal bring Kane to Old Trafford before the clubs meet in their Premier League opener.

Tottenham dominate many of the other transfer pages.

The Londoners are linked with a £12m bid for Lyon striker Clinton N’Jie after their initial £10m offer was rejected.

The Mirror reveal that Pochettino also wants QPR’s Charlie Austin in. It will cost £15m to secure the England international’s services.

An odd, but mentionable, piece of speculation is Raul Meireles, the former Chelsea and Liverpool midfielder, moving from Fenerbache to Spurs. Left. Field.

We reported, last week, that Mohammad Salah was moving from Chelsea to Roma.

The red tape and medicals [and pre-recorded club interview spots] must have taken a while but Salah is finally a Roma player.

Arsenal are looking set to challenge for the title but could do with another proven goalscorer.

Real Madrid are now willing to loosen their grip on Karim Benzema but only if the Gunners splash out a record club fee of £45m. [Daily Mail]
