Steven Gerrard coy over next move after LA Galaxy

We've seen lately that a move to Major League Soccer is no indication that you can't still deliver at the highest level.

Jermain Defoe has been one of the most consistent English strikers in the Premier League since joining Sunderland from Toronto FC, while Krisztián Németh and Adam Nemec - two recent MLS imports who have since left the league - both reached the knockout stages of Euro 2016. So the news that Steven Gerrard still fancies himself to do a job back in England perhaps shouldn't surprise us. "I'm going to be a long-time retired and so I still want to enjoy things while I'm still feeling good," Gerrard told Liverpool radio station Radio City Talk, as reported by Sky Sports.

"I'm wondering whether I should play on for a little bit longer or whether I should call it a day. I haven't 100 per cent decided on that yet.

"I still enjoy playing. I still love coming into training, I still love competing, so if I can carry on and there are opportunities to stay here, or go somewhere else for another six months or 12 months, then I'll consider it." Gerrard's LA Galaxy team lost in the knockout round of the MLS Playoffs last season, and have already guaranteed themselves a postseason berth this time around. Bruce Arena's team are currently third in the Western Conference, and if the season were to end today they would face a rematch against the Seattle Sounders, the team who eliminated them in 2015. This year's MLS Cup takes place on December 10, meaning that - even if the Galaxy go all the way - Gerrard would be free to link up with a European side in time for the January transfer window.
