Serie A’s early kick-offs threw up a very strange twist of fate

What are the odds?

You could say it’s been a day 2-2 remember in Italy.

All four of the afternoon kick-offs ended as two-all draws, putting to bed those tired clichés about defensive play in the Italian top flight.

Torino twice came from behind on their trip to Verona, while Napoli did likewise in Empoli.

Former West Ham striker Marco Borriello found the net as newly-promoted Carpi were three minutes from their first victory of the campaign.

The quartet of ‘Desmonds’ was completed in Sassuolo, where a brace from Chile striker Mauricio Pinilla wasn’t enough to earn Atalanta all three points.

There was due to be another game, but Bologna’s trip to Sampdoria was postponed. It only seems fair to put it into the record books as another 2-2 draw.

Here’s the scoresheet in all its glory.
