Robbie Keane will be joined at LA Galaxy by former Manchester City midfielder

Tough tackler

Robert Redmond

LA Galaxy should have a decent side next season for what could be their biggest stars final campaign.

Steven Gerrard will have a new central midfield partner next season. Tough tackling Nigel de Jong has joined LA Galaxy from AC Milan, reports the LA Times.

The 31 year Dutch midfielder, who spent three years with Manchester City, winning the Premier League and FA Cup, arrives in MLS on a free-transfer and has initially signed a one year deal.

Earlier this week, Galaxy signed former England, Arsenal and Chelsea defender Ashley Cole from Roma, also on a free-transfer, and have signed 14 players in total since the end of last season.

De Jong, who has a reputation as a very tough tackler, appears to be the pick of the bunch, as the midfielder could arguably still do a job in one of Europe’s top leagues.

MLS defenders won’t know what hit them.
