It’s impossible to please everybody.
And when you’re Piers Morgan, it’s very easy to cause a stir on Twitter.
The Arsenal fan, and polarising figure, is no stranger to the odd bit of vitriolic abuse in his mentions on the social media platform but it would have been a particularly active day of refreshing on Monday when, in response to a newspaper article listing the greatest Barcelona players of all time, Morgan decided to name his top 10.
1) Ronaldinho
2) Messi
3) Cruyff
4) Maradona
5) Ronaldo
6) Suarez
7) Iniesta
8) Puyol
9) Rivaldo
10) Xavi— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) August 29, 2016
Controversy was to be expected when his followers noticed that Lionel Messi was beaten to top spot by Ronaldinho, a brave but unpopular choice.
And there were very few in agreement with the placement of legendary midfield maestro Xavi in the number 10 position on the list.
@piersmorgan Ronaldinho over Messi I’m in absolute tears here.
