The fact that we’re heading to the Euros is a serious boost to Irish football.

Irish fans can start getting their Junior Cert French books down from the attic, while the FAI are also set to benefit hugely from the exposure, and the additional cash, the event in France will generate.

The tournament will be worth millions to the FAI, but that is all in the future, and for now CEO John Delaney will have to try and make it to work today in his second favourite suit after his fancy jacket and pants got ruined in the haze of champagne and beer in the Ireland dressing room last night.

The FAI chief was eager to celebrate with the management and players although we don’t see any man-hugging with Roy Keane.
