Paul Merson uses a very Paul Merson analogy to describe Manchester United

Add this to the Merse code

Robert Redmond

Paul Merson has a unique take on most things.

Some of Sky Sports pundit’s quotes include saying Wigan: ‘look like a bag of nails’, because they’re ‘all over the place’. He once described a team he felt were being complacent, saying: ‘I think they turned up last Saturday and thought it would be a catwalk’.

Describing David Nugent’s career trajectory, Merson said the striker ‘tore up the Championship but he went to Portsmouth and he was a fish up a tree’. He also said: ‘Liverpool are like a bag of Revels, Jeff. You never know what you will get with them’.

Well, you can add another Mersonism to his quote hall of fame.

Speaking earlier today on Sky’s Soccer Saturday show, Merson described Manchester United’s current form as ‘One ugly man going out with a darling girl. They’re punching well above their weight at the minute’.
