Clash of the bleached buzz cuts

Paul Gascoigne has complimented Phil Foden but has also said no one compares to himself, not even England’s rising star.

The National Football Museum describes Gascoigne as “widely recognised as the most naturally talented English footballer of his generation”.

Similarly, the Spanish manager Pep Guardiola has said that Phil Foden, “Is the most talented player I have ever seen.”

Foden has been on a rapid rise in recent years, helping Manchester City dominate the Premier League this season.

When asked about Foden, Gazza told The Sun, “No one compares to me.

“I can beat everyone with my eyes shut, and that’s with a bottle of whiskey inside of us as well and a couple of Bacardi Breezers.”

Whether this is a legend clinging to his fame or actually a representation of their comparable skills is a topic of debate online. On the broader topic of the Euros, Gascoigne had the following to say on the Seaman Says podcast:

“I definitely think we have a chance, the attacking force is unbelievable, the defenders we will see.

“The pressure is on now after the last World Cup, it’s at Wembley and it all depends on whether they can handle it.

“We have a good chance because this is probably going to be the closest we’ve been since ’96.

“France definitely have a good chance, but England do too so long as they can handle the pressure.”
