Hans Erik Odegaard will take up a position as a youth coach with Real Madrid.

His son Martin joined the Spanish giants this week from Stromsgodset for a reported €3 million. The 16 year old ‘wonderkid’ turned down a host of top European clubs, and will reportedly earn up to €8 million euro a year at the Bernabeu.

Odegaard junior has already represented Norway at international level and will go into Madrid’s second team, Castillia, who compete in the country’s third tier and are coached by Zinedine Zidane.

Hans Erik Odegaard is a former midfielder and was the assistant manager at Norwegian side Mjøndalen until joining Madrid’s staff.

‘He is an ex-player and now he is a very qualified coach,’ club director Emilio Butragueno said. ‘He will fit into the technical structure of the club, in the youth set-up’.

The arrangement is part of Martin Odegaard’s transfer.
