Nishan comes from an athletic family. The youngster's father Stefan was a sprinter, competed at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, and remains the Swiss record holder over 100m with an impressive time of 10.32 seconds.
Burkhart's London-born mother was also an athlete and an Olympian, featuring at the 1984 games in the 400m event.
