Manchester United given real hope of signing “greatest talent there is in Spain”

Sign him up, Jose. The boy is special.

Nooruddean Choudry

The sky is the limit for this boy.

Just take a look at some of the platitudes that have been showered upon Spanish wonderkid Marco Asensio:

  • “He is greatest talent there is in Spain. He has frightening quality.” – Vicente del Bosque
  • “Marco is not just about scoring goals – he has an all-round game.” – Zinedine Zidane
  • “Marco Asensio one of the best three players I have trained in my whole career.” – Valeri Karpin

If such praise seems outlandish, check out these stunning goals…

And again, against poor Sevilla:

There is no denying the 21-year-old playmaker’s immense talent and potential. He has been compared to Kaka, Luis Figo, and being left-footed, very unfairly with the great Lionel Messi. But his position in the pecking order at Real Madrid remains an issue.

Hailed for years as a truly special player, he inevitably faces world-class competition at the Bernabeu as an attacking player who prefers to operation in the number 10 role. Now into his twenties, there has been talk of him looking elsewhere for regular first-team opportunities.

Jose Mourinho is a known admirer, and according to reports in the Daily Star, he has been given hope that a big money move to Manchester United may be possible this summer.

Real have previously stated that the player is not for sale and would remain at the club, but that was before their transfer ban was shortened to only covering last month’s January window. Now they are free to buy players at will, a reported £40m offer would be enough tempt them to sell Asensio.

It remains to be seen where the youngster will end up, but let’s hope he gets regular first-team action quickly, so that we can enjoy such skills as this…
