Liverpool strongly deny making an approach to Carlo Ancelotti to replace Brendan Rodgers as manager

No deal

So that’s a no then.

Cynics will say that Liverpool could hardly come out and say anything else, but the club have emphatically denied reports from Italy that Carlo Ancelotti is being lined up to replace Brendan Rodgers as manager.

Rodgers’ position has come under scrutiny following a poor last season and a disappointing start to this campaign.

Jurgen Klopp’s name has been the name most frequently linked as Rodgers’ replacement should owners FSG decide a change is needed, but on Tuesday night Calcio Mercato claimed that an approach had been made for the former Chelsea boss, who is out of work since leaving Real Madrid last summer.

But on Wednesday morning Liverpool were emphatic in their denial that any approach has been made for the Italian.
