Liverpool have made a £9.5m (€12m) bid for Piotr Zielinski, according to The Guardian.
The 22 year old midfielder, who is currently at Euro 2016 with Poland, scored five goals in 36 games last season for Empoli in Serie A, on loan from Udinese.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reportedly spoke to Zielinksi on the phone on Saturday, and told the player he sees him as being a potentially key figure for his side next season.
However, the Premier League side face competition for the midfielder in the form of Napoli.
Udinese want £12m (€15.2m) for Zielinski, who has 13 caps and three goals, for Poland.
