Liverpool fans rage as Daily Mail takes two-tier approach to souvenir collecting

SportsJOE

The #FarewellBoleyn media love-in does not extend to Merseyside seemingly.

After West Ham United fans enjoyed their side’s 3-2 win over Manchester United and endured the never-ending multimedia extravaganza that was their final goodbye to Upton Park, a few took souvenirs with them.

Seats and signs were torn from their moorings as supporters made off with mementoes of the old ground before leaving for the Olympic Stadium.

On Wednesday night in Anfield, Liverpool fans in the Main Stand did likewise after the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, which was the last home game before a redevelopment of one-quarter of the ground this summer.

Perhaps it was this last point that was seized upon by the Daily Mail, who have been catching some flak from Liverpool fans for the contrasting manner in how they reported the souvenir hunting in West Ham on Tuesday and Liverpool on Wednesday.

It has got to the point where the Daily Mail are trending in Liverpool. Ask The Sun, it is not great for a newspaper to be trending on Merseyside.
