Liverpool fans pinpoint the longterm answer to their goalkeeper issues

It's neither of these two...

Always look after number one.

Despite their early 2017 struggles, few can deny that Jurgen Klopp has done a sterling job of reinventing Liverpool into a side that is exciting, vibrant, energetic and brimming with ideas. They may still have notable issues with breaking down defensively-minded teams, but by the same token they are a genuine match for anyone.

We are still relatively early into the Klopp-olution, but a particular problem area is the goalkeeping position. Simon Mignolet can be a wondrous shot-stopper and has an excellent attitude, but he continues to lack any consistency or surety to his game. Loris Karius has tremendous potential at 23, but he’s not quite there yet.

The name of Kasper Schmeichel is increasingly prevalent on Liverpool tongues and keyboards, and it makes a lot of sense. Schmeichel is a good age (30 last November); he has a presence and confidence that the Anfield faithful are aching for.

Leicester City may well go down and be forced to sell – and they already have a ready-made replacement in the very highly-rated Ron-Robert Zieler.

But judging from the comments below, we don’t need to sell him as a very attractive option to the fans. Your move, Jurgen…
