Leeds’ late comeback sends fan into lap of his garden

A late brace from Kemar Roofe fired Leeds to victory against Blackburn this afternoon, sending their fans into hysterical celebration

Could this be their year? Could the bizarre appointment of Marcelo Bielsa prove to be a stroke of genius? Could El Loco take Leeds United back to the top flight? With every win, however scrappy, it looks more and more likely that the answer to all of those questions is ‘yes’.

For the second time in four days, Leeds came back from two goals down to claim all three points against Blackburn Rovers this afternoon, having pulled off an equally dramatic comeback on the 23rd, with Kemar Roofe the hero on both occasions.

This afternoon, the game was delicately balanced at 1-1 for its majority, until the away side’s captain Charlie Mulgrew scored his second of the game in the 90th minute, seemingly stealing all three points.

However, Leeds weren’t prepared to throw in the towel and took advantage of the generous amount of additional time to score another two goals, the latter an excellent header from the diminutive Roofe, who has come on leaps and bounds under Bielsa.

Needless to say, Leeds fans are thrilled; for the first time in a long time, they are enjoying watching their team play football, they have a good chance of automatic promotion, and they’ve just scored two last minute winners in four days, either side of Christmas. There is no better gift.

One Leeds fan in particular was so ecstatic after the dramatic win at Elland Road that he celebrated by running hysterically around his garden, swinging his white, yellow and blue scarf in the air.

The person behind the camera, presumably the man’s wife, appears to be baffled and amused in equal measure.

Those of us who have experienced a last minute winner as Leeds fans did today will understand his joy. Enjoy it, mate.
