Jose Mourinho tends to use his programme notes to complain about Manchester United fans, but he opted for a different topic on Wednesday night.
United host Bournemouth, just three days after they lost 2-1 to Manchester City at Old Trafford, and will look to get back to winning ways after slipping 11 points behind their title rivals.
However, before the match, Mourinho wanted to have one final say on Sunday’s events. The former Chelsea manager made reference to Ander Herrera’s penalty claim in the second-half against City, writing:
“We have been phenomenal at home this season, so we are not going to let a clear penalty, which was not given on Sunday, dampen our spirits.”

In the 79th minute of the derby game, United were chasing an equaliser and Herrera tumbled over Nicolas Otamendi’s leg.
Michael Oliver, the referee, didn’t award United a penalty and booked Herrera for simulation. Following the match, Mourinho blamed the loss on the failure to award his side a penalty, and is sticking to that excuse three days later.
The defeat to City was United’s first at Old Trafford since September 2016, when they also lost to Guardiola’s side.
