Mario Balotelli creatively hits back after Jamie Carragher insult

War has begun

Mario Balotelli’s reign of terror at Anfield is finally over.

The ‘striker’ has left Liverpool for Nice, after two very unproductive seasons. It could be argued he was more useful to Liverpool last season, when he was on-loan at AC Milan, than during the year he spent at Anfield, when he scored four goals in 28 games.

Liverpool may as well have had 10 players when Balotelli was on the field, and there was as more chance of Michael Owen coming out of retirement and starting for Liverpool this season, than there was Balotelli getting a game under Jurgen Klopp.

Nice, who finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season, have signed the 26-year-old on a free transfer. The French club becomes Balotelli’s next stop on his inevitable journey to the Chinese Super League.

Jamie Carragher best summed up the feelings of Liverpool fans towards the former Manchester City forward.

The Liverpool legend said that signing Balotelli for nothing still represented poor value for the French club.

Balotelli was not having that.

It may have taken him a couple of days but perhaps it was because he was working on this tweet for so long:

We look forward to Carragher’s response.
