James and Sunderland ‘Til I Die star headed for Premier League

SportsJOE

Is there anything better than the transfer window?

Gossip, rumours, hearsay. The same thing over and over again, just worded differently. Tell-tales, tittle-tattles, Chinese whispers.

If a month that does its very best to suck the life out of football fans by the shameless shoehorning of the FA Cup ever needed another dimension of talking points and energy, it was January.

So let’s dream for another while.

And Arsenal fans can dream the biggest with Miguel Delaney’s story in the Independent that the club are closing in on James Rodriguez.

The 27-year-old is on his second season loan spell at Bayern Munich having scored seven and assisted 11 times in 23 Bundesliga games in the last campaign. Unai Emery wants to bring him on loan to the Emirates for the rest of the season with a view to signing him permanently.

Meanwhile, one man – perhaps the only man – who came out of Sunderland ‘Til I Die looking half-decent might be about to seal a move to the Premier League.

Josh Maja has scored 15 goals in 25 League 1 appearances this season and Cardiff City are said to be sniffing around. The Sun report, however, that their proposed £2m won’t be enough to prise the forward away from the Stadium of Light.

And, if the benefits of offloading Jose Mourinho weren’t enough as they all seemed already, Manchester United are about to seal Anthony Martial’s future at the club by convincing the 23-year-old to sign a contract extension. His contract expires in 2020 but, according to ESPN, the Frenchman will be there for a bit longer with the new deal.
