Jack Grealish stars for England U21s and almost everyone’s delighted for him

Well, not quite everyone...

Tom Victor

Jack Grealish has had an eventful career for someone so young, off the field at least.

The Aston Villa midfielder might just be 21 years of age, but he has already captured plenty of attention for his off-field antics and his decision to declare for England after representing Ireland all the way up to Under-21 level.

The only way for Grealish to change the opinion of him is to impress on the pitch, and his performance for England U21s is a positive start.

Grealish set up three of England’s goals in a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina, with Bristol City’s on-loan Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham scoring twice on his full debut at that level.

And there was plenty of praise for the Birmingham-born playmaker, who started to show the kind of skill and flair many had hoped he’d be displaying for England’s senior side by now.

Now, I know we said everyone got behind the youngster and was happy to see him do well, but surely you didn’t think it would be quite that straightforward.

It’s Jack Grealish we’re dealing with, after all.

And you just knew we’d have more than a few people desperate to bring up the Englishman’s previous international existence.
