Iconic 90s football video game poised for a return

Anyone who played football video games in the 1990s will remember the Sensible Soccer series fondly.

Launched for the Amiga and Atari, it was ahead of its time and remains popular with many football fans.

And now a revival is on the cards, in the form of new game Sociable Soccer.

The new version is the brainchild of Jon Hare – the man behind 1994 release Sensible World of Soccer – and has raised thousands of pounds through a Kickstarter campaign.

It will feature customisable avatars and online multiplayer mode, and is the result of years of preparation.

“Competing with FIFA and PES requires much more than just a remake, it needs a different take on football games altogether, blending the instant playability of yesteryear with the power of modern technology,” Hare said.
