Gennaro Gattuso wants the Manchester United job and he wants it bad

He even loves the Championship

Gennaro Gattuso linked with Manchester United, again.

The Italian legend seemed to be on the brink of a move to Old Trafford forever and, now that he’s manager of third tier outfit Pisa, it’s definitely not a huge surprise to learn that he’d be keen on Louis van Gaal’s job.

The 38-year-old has an impressive keenness on the English game though and he appears to be quite the student.

In an interview with The Sun, Gattuso spoke of his love of football in England and how he’d jump at the chance of a job with United.

“I’d walk there. I’d even go tomorrow,” he said.

“[Alex] Ferguson has always respected me — and I have always admired the Premier League which, for me, is the best league in the world.

“In Italy, we are tactical masters, but in England you see pacy players with great strength in their legs.”

The fiery midfielder has had his run-ins with United – and just about everyone – in the past but now in his fourth managerial job in only three years, he has an analytical approach to the game.

So much so that he’s obsessed with even the English Championship.

“I love watching the Championship, because in those games, I see true love that people in England have for football. They breathe football,” he told The Sun.

“I record two Championship matches a night.

“In Italy, some teams can relax during games. In England, with every action of a team, there is a corresponding action from the opposition.”
