Gary Lineker tries to explain away *that* Ranieri tweet

Nice try

Tom Victor

There’s no shame in not seeing Leicester City’s title success coming.

The Foxes were 5000/1 to win the title, and – if we’re being honest – few of us even expected a top half finish for a team that found itself in the bottom three for most of last season.

Part of this was down to the appointment of Claudio Ranieri as manager.

The former Chelsea boss had been sacked by Greece after losing to the Faroe Islands, and even Gary Lineker was sceptical of the Italian’s credentials.

However, following the unlikeliest of title wins, Lineker has been quick to clarify his original comments.

His tongue may be firmly in his cheek, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t enjoy his explanation.
