Fernando Torres in talks to return to Atletico Madrid

Milan want rid of Torres

Torres could be on his way home.

AC Milan are in talks to offload Fernando Torres to his first club Atletico Madrid. The striker is on a two year loan deal with the Serie A club from Chelsea and has scored just one goal in 10 league appearances. Milan have reportedly attempted to cancel the deal, but Jose Mourinho was adamant there’s no place for the £50 million signing in his squad. ‘He’s our player but he’s on loan,’ the Chelsea manager said when asked recently about Torres’ situation with Milan. ‘We have no space for players in the list. Either in the Champions League or Premier League’.

Milan are now hoping they strike a deal with Atletico, with a potential exchange for Alessio Cerci mooted. The forward has also struggled to settle at his new club and Milan are hoping to complete a deal in the January transfer window. However, Torres’ wages of £150,000-a-week could prove a stumbling block. The 30 year old last played for Rossoneri in November.
